Our project gives young people hands-on experience in boat restoration, building valuable skills and confidence.
Through teamwork and shared goals, we're fostering a sense of community and belonging among our youth.
Your donation helps us provide tools, materials, and guidance to keep this transformative project afloat.
Our wooden boat restoration project is about crafting skills, shaping futures, and building a community of capable, confident young people.
The project with the young people is conducted on Naim, a 90 year old wooden sailing boat built in Alexandria Egypt and sailed all these years all over the Mediterranean Sea.
A year ago the boat sustained some damages due to a storm which resulted in the engine getting flooded with water and needing to be changed. Maintenance work on the hull is also needed to make sure that the boat is water tight. To carry out these works Naim needs to be lifted into a boat yard and due to the specific work required and safety policies in place, these works needs to be carried out by skilled personnel from the yard.
Our project provides young people with practical skills in woodworking, mechanics, and teamwork - valuable experiences for their future careers and personal growth.
By working together on a shared goal, our youth build strong bonds, develop communication skills, and learn the value of community involvement.
Through the restoration process, participants gain an appreciation for sustainable practices and the importance of preserving our maritime heritage.
